There's something about causing another to stumble. Intentionally manipulating someone into doing something that you know is not right is not only immoral, but it's actually a sin. But we don't realize this. And some know it, but choose to ignore it. Deadly!
"Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. " Romans 14:13
Paul gives clear instructions on causing another to stumble. We do this directly and indirectly at times. Seems as if it began allllll the way back in the Garden of Eden with the serpent. Satan manipulated Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. When we look at the definition of the word 'manipulate' some versions state "to manage or influence skillfully, especially in an unfair manner".
The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
“Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”
“You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” Genesis 3:1-5 NLT
Satan used everything that God previously told Eve and flipped it to his advantage. Sadly, verse 6 starts off by saying "the woman was convinced." Manipulation. Satan even went as far as to state that she wouldn't die by eating the fruit. The Father of Lies was highly incorrect. To willfully disobey God is a sin. And we know the wages of sin are death. Sin was introduced to the world right then and there.
Perhaps you've been manipulated or even done the manipulation before. Often we use this "tactic" to get what we want. Scripture says we have not because we ask not. But many of us don't have because our motives are impure. So we then lie and scheme to get what we want. Manipulation. But here's the thing. Your manipulative tactics aren't needed when you surrender your life to your kingdom assignment. We want to be in charge. We want to control things. We believe that our ways are better and that God may have it incorrect this time, so we try to help Him. This act of not surrendering is disobedience and it's also insulting to God. This is the very thing that caused Satan to be banished from heaven. He wanted to be in control and didn't want to submit to the authority and lordship of God.
I would advise you to take a look at your motives and tactics as you go on in life not obtaining your desires. It could cost you your soul, your blessings, and your peace. Remain in the Word of God and know that all good and perfect gifts come from Him. He has good plans for you to prosper. You'll only believe this is if you remain in His Word and become grounded in the truth. I believe Eve knew the truth, but she wasn't firmly grounded and planted in it. She knew what God said, but perhaps she didn't know who He was. Before eating the fruit, she was unaware of what her actions would cause. Thankfully, you and I are aware. We have a truth guide, a Savior, an Advocate, and a Counselor. There's no reason for manipulation to work on us or for us to use manipulation in our lives.
Don't spend another second listening to the lies of Satan. You can't afford it. There's too much at risk if you go that route. Trust God. Walk with God. Know God. And believe His Word for what it is: the Truth!
