Here lately I've been hooked on this game I play on my phone called InstLife. You pretty much can be whoever you choose to be. Create a custom life or select a random life. As you age, you have to remember to do certain things. Take your driving test, study, routine health exams, check on your happiness, ask for a raise at your job, buy a car, etc. Now I'm almost a pro at the game but previously, I wasn't so good. I would work at a place for 15 years, and forget to ask for a raise. Or I would be 40 years old and forget to move out of my parent's house. Sometimes, I had enough money in my bank account but would forget to take my driving test, though I already purchased a car. It's a lot. Just way too much to remember. It's like everyday life. Kids, pet, husband, job, servant, etc. It's a lot! But it doesn't have to be.
Life as a Christian really is as simple as 1-2-3 in my eyes. And I think it's summed up in Matthew 6:33...
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (NLT)
When we live to honor God and keep Him as the head of our lives, we don't have to strive so hard. We don't have to force things. We can abide in Him, trusting He knows our needs and with Him being the center of everything, we'll have all we need. Notice I didn't say just believing in Him. That's different. I said seek Him. That means seeking His will, seeking direction from Him, walking with Him so closely and intimately that we can hear the small sound of His voice at all times guiding us.
Look at Matthew 7:7...
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. (NLT)
It says that when you seek, you will find. As a Christian, it's no longer YOU who lives, but Christ who lives within you. And if you're seeking Him and living for Him and Him alone, He'll reveal areas that are in need of change; He'll revitalize you. All you have to do is seek Him.
Live righteously. Remember who you are. And if you're seeking Him at all times, it won't be hard. Again, the sound of His voice will guide you. And the Holy Spirit will convict you. You're no longer left to your own device when you're in Christ. Let Him take over.
Receive. It says when we seek God above all else and live righteously, He will give us everything we need. We only need to receive it. We know obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). And when we're out to walk in the way He would have us go, we will be blessed abundantly for it. He's omnipresent. So we can't escape His presence. But the promises He made are based on our own obedience and how we're aligned. It's based on our posture and position.
Life gets rough. I know. It's a lot! But it doesn't have to be. Just seek Him. Start there if nowhere else. Jeremiah 29:13 makes it clear:
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (NIV)
