We all want to ensure that we end up with a man that is after God's heart. We pray, desire, and dream of the day that our God-sent husbands will sweep us off our feet with the way they obey God and cherish us. We want him to be pure, righteous, and holy. We want him to be compassionate, patient, and kind. We want him to be romantic, loving, and loyal. These are things to desire. But often there are women that want to see God evident in these men, but they fail to show themselves as a reflection of God.
Women are to be a reflection of God as well. Does Genesis 1:27 not say that man and woman were created in His image? My Bible does. So why do we find it hard to display the same characteristics as God, the same ones that we desire to see in a mate one day? Examine the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5. It talks of patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, love, goodness, joy, peace, and self-control.
I previously struggled with all of these things. Mainly because I was trying to produce fruit on my own. But the thing is that these are fruits of the Spirit, meaning only the Spirit can produce these things. A person not producing these fruits is one that is not allowing the Holy Spirit to take residency within them. The Word says that He is the vine and we are the branches. And God prunes us, ensuring that we only produce good fruit. Some of us haven't taken the time to allow God to strip away the things that aren't producing any good.
With that being said, are you a reflection of God in how you carry yourself during this season? Evaluate some things this week:
Do you know how to communicate effectively and in a way that honors God? James 3:9
Do you pursue Him earnestly? Luke 10:42
Does God come first when you make decisions? Matthew 6:33
Are you responsible with your actions, making good choices? Ezra 10:4
Can you discern between right and wrong, knowing what you put out is what you receive? Galatians 6:9
Do you know how to control your anger? Ephesians 4:26
Do you possess self-control? 2 Timothy 1:7
Do you depend on God for your strength? Philippians 4:13
Understand that greater is He that is in YOU. The thing is, do you see Him in you when you look in the mirror? When you reflect on your thoughts, actions, and deeds, do we see a woman who seeks to mirror God in all of her ways?
